SANTA PAULA, Calif. -

Emergency crews are on scene of a helicopter crash in Santa Paula.

According to Captain Mike Lindberry with Ventura County Fire, the copter went down just after 10:00 Friday morning in county territory.  

Santa Paula police were first on scene and within minutes, confirmed one fatality. There were no passengers on board.

The helicopter went down in a field adjacent to a water treatment facility off Corporation Street, clipping a power line, which sparked a small spot fire in nearby bamboo.

The crash site is roughly three miles from the Santa Paula Airport.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are also investigating.
