It may seem hard to believe, but some Goleta Valley students said they have seen kids use e-cigarettes in class when teachers were not looking.
Goleta City Council Members want to snuff out that behavior with a new ordinance that would restrict new products and second-hand smoke.
The ordinance would ban the sale of e-cigarettes and vapor products to minors. It would also prevent minors from selling them. And stores with those items in stock would not be allowed to open near schools.
Another ordinance would ban second-hand smoke in parks and on hiking trails and other public spaces.
The city is slated to vote on the ordinances May 20.
