Goleta is looking for a new City Manager. Dan Singer has accepted a similar post in San Diego County.
His last day was today.
Singer says he was the second manager for Goleta, and worked with the council to develop a plan to grow the city even during the recession. Partnerships were essential.
"The council back in 2006 said we can't do everything so let's do partnerships and that was my green light. So we partnered with the American Red Cross, the Chamber, with the university and the county on projects like San Jose Creek and that has been a large part of our success," said Singer.
He is moving to the city of Poway. It is about twice the size of Goleta, and boasts a similar ranking as one of the safest cities in California. Singer also says it has a very big parks and recreation commitment and its own lake.
A search for his replacement has begun. It will include public meetings. The process is expected to take about three months.
The Interim City Manager is Michelle Greene.
Greene has been the Deputy City Manager since 2013. Prior to becoming Deputy City Manager she was the Administrative Services Director.
She has been an employee of Goleta since 2004.
