Darryl Genis is known for representing high profile clients in DUI cases. But his biggest case right now is his own.
The state bar is recommending a 90-day suspension for two counts of misconduct involving the failure to comply with court orders.
Bar prosecutors are also filing a review to get two rejected counts reinstated.
Genis is working on his own appeal that will ultimately be decided by a three-judge panel.
Genis said he believes emails between a state bar deputy trial council and Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley show Dudley has a vendetta against him for leveling the playing the field in DUI cases.
But Dudley claims her office served as the reporting party and that it was up to bar prosecutors to decide whether to prosecute.
Genis called those prosecutors arrogant. He said not all violations result in bar actions.
He said the case won't hurt his busy practice. He is currently representing an ex-aide to Congresswoman Lois Capps, who is accused of causing the death a Santa Barbara bartender in a DUI-related pedestrian versus car crash.
