Gasoline Prices
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Drivers appear to be enjoying lower gas prices as the end of summer nears.

After rising 8 cents a gallon in July, they have slipped 11 cents this month.

Kirsten Fehrer said the timing is right, she plans to spend the saving on school clothes for her daughter's first day of kindergarten.

But one Prius owner didn't seem to notice.  Kathy Pfeifer said she only spends about $20 to $30 dollars every few weeks.

The Camarillo-based Lundberg Survey said the price of a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.60.

Survey president Trilby Lundberg said refiners are over-producing gasoline and slashing their wholesale prices to move product.

Sacramento had the lowest average price of $3.72.

San Diego had the highest average price at $3.92.

The average statewide for a gallon of regular is $3.86.
