SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

First cruise ship of the year has docked in Santa Barbara bringing thousands of tourists and dollars with it.

In 2014 the City of Santa Barbara says 18 cruise ships will dock just off the coast. Each boat carries about 4,000 visitors who come ashore and usually spend money. Restaurants, shops and even transportation services from the coast to the Santa Ynez Valley see financial gains when cruise ships are in town.

From Santa Barbara's beautiful Old Mission, to the wine country of Santa Ynez, tourist will spend the entire day in our city before heading South towards Mexico.

Cruise ship season in Santa Barbara runs from January to May.
