SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -

An accidental campfire broke our on Memorial Day last year.  It burned 2,000 acres and a U.S. Forest Service car in the White Rock area.

Nearby residents who remember the fire well were pleased to hear the rangers increase fire restrictions Monday.

Division Chief Mark Von Tillow said Level III restrictions are now in place.  Campers will only be allowed to have campfires in desiginated campfire sites in the Los Padres National Forest until further notice.

Von Tillow said they took current fires burning in the state and critical moisture levels into consideration when making the decision.

Shooting ranges will be closed under the restrictions.  Smoking is also banned outside the designated areas.
