SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews have contained a brush fire south east of Santa Maria on Clark and Dominion roads.

The blaze broke out just after noon on Wednesday in a cattle field. Fire spokesperson said the fire burned 7.7 acres. Officials said ranch homes are in the area but were not threatened.

Crews were able to contain the fire at 12:33 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
