SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Many non-profit groups are hoping those coming out for Old Spanish Days have a big appetite and visit all the food booths.
The funds raised at each booth help a specific group of the Old Spanish Days budget itself.
The mercados opened at 11 a.m. Wednesday. They will be open nightly until 11 p.m.
The array of food includes tortas, tacos, burritos, taquitos, churros and corn on the cob, just for starters. Desserts and shaved ice are also available.
For long time local residents, the Wednesday opening day of Fiesta is the day to come to the De la Guerra plaza mercado for lunch and see old friends.
The two mercados have distinct differences.
Both have food booths and entertainment stages.
Uptown at McKenzie Park in addition to the food offerings and stage they also have carnival rides for the kids. It's proven to be a very popular addition over the years.
