SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - An Old Spanish Days poster display is sending customers at a local business back in time.
The posters are up at the ACE Home Improvement Center in Santa Barbara.
Owner Gary Simpson says he has collected the posters since 1983.
He says he has picked them up at the "El Mercado or the Historic Carriage Museum." Each year he has added one and customers have asked when the display is going up or how long it will be up. Simpson says those coming into his store can enjoy the posters until mid August.
Inside the store today one customer had a flashback to the year her daughter was a Fiesta dancer.
A former El Presidente came by and said he had one from the 1950's he wanted to donate to the collection.
Old Spanish Days began in 1924. The posters, pins and collectibles from the Fiesta events are local treasures.
This array of posters is mounted on the wall in the hardware store above nuts, bolts, cleaners and other items the public is shopping for, but even with sale items below, the posters are attracting quite the conversation.
Some are looking for a specific year, artistic design or their favorite image that may have been a distant memory.
