Parolee Wanted in Fatal Carjacking Arrested

SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

A wanted parolee is now in custody for the fatal traffic accident where Tina Ramos lost her life.

Santa Maria police officers arrested 28-year-old Vincent David Ortiz of Santa Maria on Tuesday afternoon.

Ortiz was found near Boone and Miller streets. Police said they have been looking for Ortiz since the Oct. 13 fatal accident. Ortiz drove a stolen 1995 Honda.

They said he fled the scene by carjacking another car with two people inside at gunpoint.

The carjacking victims were not hurt.

Ortiz was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for vehicular manslaughter, carjacking, kidnapping, witness intimidation, possession of a stolen vehicle and parole violation.
