CARPINTERIA, Calif. - A 21-acre bluff top property in Carpinteria has been preserved after a fundraising effort that began more than a year ago.
Efforts by the Land Trust of Santa Barbara County, community members, the City of Carpinteria and Santa Barbara County helped make the purchase a reality.
The site will be preserved as open space.
Over the years it has been part of a proposal for a hotel project, that was soundly rejected.
The site is also expected to be part of a coastal walking trail that will take visitors from the Rincon to downtown Carpinteria.
