Ventura sheriff's deputies make million dollar meth bust

OXNARD, Calif. - A Poway man was arrested in Oxnard Saturday evening after sheriff's deputies discovered 40 pounds of meth during a routine traffic stop.

The traffic stop happened at around 6:30 p.m. near Rose Avenue and Ives Avenue.

The driver was identified as Daniel Sanchez, 53, of Poway. Sanchez had an expired license.

Ventura County Sheriff's deputies searched Sanchez's car and found 40 pounds of meth and more than $25,000 in cash.

Sanchez was booked into the Ventura County Jail and could face felony drug charges.

Officials estimate the street value of the meth is nearly $2 million and would have yielded over 150,000 individual doses.
