Ventura police seek public's help in Subway armed robbery

VENTURA, Calif. - The Ventura Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Subway restaurant located at 2950 Johnson Drive at about 10 p.m. July 26.

Police said two employees were preparing to close the restaurant when two suspects entered the business demanding money. One of the suspects was armed with a gun and pointed it at the employees while demanding money, according to police. He then jumped over the counter.

As the employees began running towards the back of the store, the suspect with the gun grabbed one of the employees and threatened her, according to investigators. The armed suspect took an unknown amount of money from the register and fled the restaurant.

Police said the second suspect never showed a weapon and stayed on the front side of the counter. He also fled the store.

Both suspects were men. The suspect armed with the gun is described as a black male adult in his 20's wearing a black sweatshirt. The second suspect was wearing a red striped sweatshirt but no other description was provided.

Officers were unable to locate either of the suspects, and the two Subway employees were not harmed.
