VENTURA, Calif. - The Ventura Police Department is investigating a stabbing that sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries early Sunday morning in Ventura.
At around 12:20 a.m., police responded to West Park at 450 West Harrison Ave. for a report of a stabbing.
When police arrived they located a man suffering from several stab wounds to the torso.
Officers determined that the man was at West Park with friends when they were approached by a group of people. Some type of conflict occurred between the two groups and the man tried to intervene.
A suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the man multiple times.
The suspect and his associated then fled the scene.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he is in serious but stable condition.
