VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura man was arrested Saturday evening in Ventura after police say he ran from police and was in possession of a controlled substance.
At around 8:00 p.m. a patrol officer with the Ventura Police Department was driving on Ventura Avenue and James Drive when he saw a man known to be wanted on a felony warrant driving in a vehicle.
The officer began a traffic stop when the suspect fled his vehicle on foot on the 100 block of James Drive.
The officer chased after the suspect and took him into custody without incident.
The suspect has been identified as Jimmy Cueva, 32, of Ventura.
Cueva had an active felony armed and dangerous warrant for his arrest.
Officers conducted a search of Cueva's person and found he was in possession of a controlled substance which was likely for sales.
An additional amount of a controlled substance was found in his vehicle.
Cueva was also found to be in possession of a knife.
Police say Cueva attempted to swallow some of the controlled substance before being taken into custody.
Cueva was booked into the Ventura County Jail on a complaints for possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a dangerous weapon, destruction of evidence, resisting arrest, and a felony parole violation warrant.
