Ventura man arrested for stealing bicycle, threatening victim

Removed bicycle from sleeping victim's car

VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura man was arrested Wednesday after police said he stole a bicycle from the back of a victim's vehicle and threatened to kill the victim.

At around 11:00 p.m. officers received a call about a bicycle theft on the 2600 Block of East Thompson Boulevard.

The victim was reportedly sleeping in his vehicle when the suspect removed the victim's bicycle from the back of the vehicle.

When the victim woke up and confronted the suspect, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened to kill the victim.

The victim locked himself in his car and watched the suspect ride off with his bicycle. He then dialed 911.

Officers responded and checked the area and found a person nearby that matched the suspect's description. The suspect was in possession of bicycle that matched the description of the victim's stolen bicycle.

The victim identified the suspect as the man who robbed him earlier. That suspect has been identified as Arthur Navarro, 55, of Ventura.

Navarro was arrested on possible charges for robbery. He was also found to be in possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia. Navarro was booked into the Ventura County Jail without incident.
