Ventura man accused of sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl

Suspect is registered sex offender

VENTURA, Calif. - A registered sex offender from Ventura was arrested Monday after police say he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl at a Ventura arcade.

On Saturday, police responded to the arcade at Golf N Stuff at 5555 Walker St. for a report of a sexual battery that had just occurred.

A 12-year-old girl told her parents that a man twice touched her inappropriately over her clothes while she was playing video games at the arcade.

Before police could arrive the suspect ran from the business. Officers interviewed witnesses and reviewed the security footage and were able to identify the suspect as David Sanches, 23, of Ventura.

Police confirmed through a records check that Sanchez is a registered sex offender with mutliple sex crime convictions in Ventura County.

Ventura police began investigating the incident and an arrest warrant was issued for Sanchez.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sanchez was located at a construction site in Goleta on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child. He was arrested without incident.

Sanchez was transported back to Ventura and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail.

Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to call Ventura Police Detective Mike Hibdon at (805) 339-4443.
