UC SANTA BARBARA - Investigators with UC Santa Barbara police are looking into a couple of burglaries that occurred overnight at Storke Family Student Housing and Santa Ynez Apartments, both of which are UCSB property.
Police say the first burglary attempt occurred at Storke Family Student Housing off of Mesa Road at about 12:50 a.m. on June 9. It appears the suspect or suspects entered the apartment through an open kitchen window.
Investigators say nothing was stolen from that break-in and the suspect or suspects fled prior to the police arriving.
In the second burglary, however, a laptop was taken from one of the residences at the Santa Ynez Apartment complex. Police say the crime occurred sometime between 11 p.m. June 8 and 4 a.m. June 9.
Investigators say the suspect or suspects removed a screen and window to the apartment. It's unclear if the window was left open but police remind residents to make sure all windows and doors are closed and locked.
Anyone with any information on these crimes is asked to call UCSB police at 805-893-3446 or report a crime unanimously at http://www.police.ucsb.edu/contact-us/report-crime.
