Two teens charges with murder of 26-year old Oxnard man

Police investigate homicide in Oxnard


The Ventura County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday that the two teens involved in a homicide on May 20 have been charged with murder.

District Attorney Gregory D. Totten has charged the two teenage boys with the murder of Adrian Ornelas, the 26-year old man stabbed multiple times in the area of Bard Road and Anchorage Street in the city of Oxnard.

The arraignment for the teens was continued to July 12. The District Attorney's Office says the 15 and 16-year-old boys will remain detained and their next hearing will be held at the Juvenile Justice Center. The Attorney's Office has also filed a motion to transfer the juvenile cases to adult court.

The Oxnard Police Department's investigation into the details of this homicide is ongoing.


The Oxnard Police Department is investigating a homicide involving two juvenile suspects that occurred Sunday morning in Oxnard just a few blocks away from the California Strawberry Festival.

Police officers responded to a report of an assault victim in the 1000 block of East Bard Road around 3:51 a.m. When officers arrived, they located a victim lying on the sidewalk. Medical crews attempted to render aid to the 26-year old man from Oxnard, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police located a vehicle that was described as being involved in the assault. Inside the vehicle were two Hispanic juveniles from Oxnard. Crime detectives interviewed the kids and also another person who witnessed the assault.

Oxnard Police arrested the 15-year old and 16-year old Oxnard suspects and charged them with murder. They were transported to Ventura County Juvenile Hall. The witness was released pending further investigation by detectives.

The Oxnard Police Department is investigating this homicide.
