Two People Arrested During Traffic Stop

Suspect led police on short chase before surrendering

OXANRD, Calif. - Two parolees were arrested in Oxnard for allegedly carrying narcotics and being in possession of a loaded gun.

Ventura resident Arthur Chavira, 22, and Camarillo resident Joel Alejo, 22 were stopped by Oxnard police during a traffic stop on Sunday night on the 3000 Block of Saviers Road.

Chavira fled from the car, but was caught after a short foot pursuit. Police recovered drugs and a loaded gun after a search of the vehicle. Chavira had a felony warrant out for his arrest for violation of parole.

Chavira was arrested for having drugs and for carrying a loaded firearm. Alejo was also arrested for having drugs.
