LOMPOC, Calif. - Lompoc firefighters knocked down a trash fire that spread to a vehicle and car port and was threatening an apartment complex.
According to the Lompoc City Fire Department, crews responded to several reports of a vehicle fire in an alley on the 700 block between North 3rd and 4th Streets Thursday night. The first arriving engine reported a car fire that had extended to a car port and was threatening a neighboring apartment complex. After 10 minutes, the fire was knocked down.
The initial crew pulled an attack line to contain the fire and limit spread. Other units were assigned to check for extension to the apartment complex while a third crew pulled an additional attack line to extinguish the fire. After approximately 10 minutes the fire was knocked down and crews began to overhaul and check for extension.
Fire damage was contained to the vehicle and car port. There was no damage to the apartment complex, and no injuries, firefighters said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
