Man robbed, carjacked after giving ride to Oxnard residents

CAMARILLO, Calif. - A man has his car jacked, and later robbed after giving three people a ride from Oxnard to Camarillo.

It happened on April 29th at approximately 2:00 in the afternoon in the 100 block of Calle Segunda in the City of Camarillo, according to a police report released Monday morning.

When deputies arrived a male victim had said he was driving the three male suspects from Oxnard to Camarillo when he was demanded out of his own vehicle by all three suspects.

The passenger in the front seat apparently pretended he was armed with a gun.

The suspects drove off only to return and take the victim's wallet, the suspects then fled again to Ventura, according to police.

While officers with the Camarillo Police Department were taking the initial carjacking report, Ventura officers were attempting to pull over the same vehicle for speeding.  When the suspects eventually pulled over the driver fled.

All three were later arrested and are facing several criminal charges, including carjacking and robbery.

The adult suspects are Carlos Avila and Joseph Salas, both from Oxnard.  The third suspect was a juvenile so his identity was not provided.

Avila is in custody with a $105,000 bail, and Salas is in custody with a $200,000 bail. The teen was taken to Juvenile Hall with no bail, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
