Thieves steal about $2000 worth of wine bottles from local store

Thieves steal wine bottles from local...

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The co-owners of The Winehound are looking for answers after thieves stole more than $2,000 worth of wine bottles Wednesday.

Richard Heilman and David Russell, the co-owners, were both inside the business located in La Cumbre Plaza at the time. Russell remembers seeing two couples who entered the business during separate times who acted peculiar.

The vintage Bordeaux bottles taken included a 1949 Chateau Talbot, 1974 Chateau Lafite Rothschild and 1989 Chateau Troplong Mondot. They were stored in the back of the store which is normally off limits to the public.

Heilman and Russell understand it would be difficult for anyone to turn back in the wine bottles, but are asking the public for help. If any retailer, restaurant or person is offered the wines, they're asked to call Santa Barbara Police and The Winehound.

Another wine business was also hit with theft on Wednesday. The Montecito business owner asked NewsChannel 3 not to use publicize their business name. We also asked them if we could have the surveillance camera clip from that day, but they chose not to comment and send the video.
