SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The owner of a local hobby shop hopes video surveillance shots will help in the arrest of a burglary suspect.
The break-in occurred Monday about 4:15 a.m. when the glass door was shattered at California Hobbies located in the Magnolia Shopping Center at 5118 Hollister Avenue.
Surveillance video shows a suspect breaking the door, leave, and about a half an hour later return.
That's when cash and four remote control monster truck kits were taken. One was left outside, but the suspect got away with the other three. The register had less than $200 in cash.
The store is small with about three rows, and cameras are placed in all areas.
The Sheriff's department obtained the video hoping to identify the suspect who was wearing a hoodie with a face mask. The first sign of the suspect on the video shows a bicycle too.
Since April 2014, there have been a number of glass door break-ins on the south coast by one or more suspects. Most of the crimes have occurred in the early morning hours. In many cases, only cash was taken, and store products were left behind.
In this burglary, both were taken by, what appeared to be a solo suspect.
