Vandenberg Village stabbing sends man to hospital with lifethreatening wounds

VANDENBERG VILLAGE, Calif. - The suspect of an alleged stabbing at Vandenberg Village Friday has been identified as 31 year old, Jacob Salter.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's office reports Salter was arrested at the scene after being accused of stabbing a 71 year old, unidentified man who was found at the scene with multiple stab wounds. He is being held at Santa Barbara County jail on $1 million dollars bail and charged with attempted murder.

The Sheriff's office also suspects that Salter and the 71 year old victim both lived in the same residence.


A man was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening stab wounds Friday afternoon after a fight at a home in Vandenberg Village.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department says an unidentified suspect was taken into custody at the scene on the 700 block of Mercury Avenue.

The Sheriff's Dept. says the suspect and the victim know each other but no other details were available Friday night.


The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department says a person was repeatedly stabbed at Vandenberg Village has been airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Sheriff's deputies taped off the area near where it happened along the 700 block of Mercury Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

At least one person is in custody after what deputies call a domestic disturbance.

What led up to the altercation and apparent stabbing remains under investigation.

Neighbors told KCOY 12 News they did not hear any loud arguments or disturbance coming from the home where this incident took place.
