SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A couple from Lompoc is behind bars after being accused of trying to break into several cars in the area of Burtis Street and San Marcos Road in unincorporated Santa Barbara County.
Witnesses told Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies that 29-year-old Erika Krystal Garcia and 29-year-old Aldo Almanza were pulling on the door handles of cars and driving a white Honda sedan that had license plates attached to the bumpers.
The incident happened on Feb. 11 at about 6:50 a.m.
Deputies located the Honda sedan and pulled over the suspects. Authorities say the Lompoc couple was driving in a car stolen car out of Santa Maria while they committed numerous thefts throughout Santa Barbara County.
Investigators discovered stolen property, burglary tools, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia during a search of the suspects' car. The stolen property included thousands of dollars worth of power tools and many stolen mail and documents, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Garcia was arrested for vehicle theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of meth, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and a no-bail Probation Department detainer.
Almanza was arrested for vehicle theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, grand theft, possession of meth, and a felony no-bail warrant stemming from a previous car theft.
Both suspects were booked into Santa Barbara County Jail and are being held without bail.
