Search continues for driver that led Ventura police on a pursuit in a stolen car

VENTURA, Calif. - Ventura police continue searching for a male driver that led officers on a chase in a stolen car.

The Ventura Police Department says at about 11 p.m. Feb. 14, officers were observing a stolen Honda Civic in a motel parking lot on the 900 block of Thompson Boulevard when the suspect got in the car and drove off. Police tried pulling the driver over but he failed to stop.

The pursuit continued northbound on Ash Street then westbound on Poli Street to Cedar and eventually onto Center Street. Speeds reached up to 50 MPH on city streets, according to authorities.

Police say the suspect stopped the car in the 100 block of Center Street and took off on foot into a neighborhood.

A perimeter was set up to search for the suspect but despite attempting to locate the driver with a K-9 unit, officers were not able to locate the suspect. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.
