Santa Maria police search for domestic violence suspect

Suspect accused of kidnapping, assaulting victim

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria Police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect wanted in connection with a disturbing case of alleged domestic violence.

Police are not revealing many details about the case other than to say it happened sometime Saturday night and the suspect they're looking for can easily be identified.

30 year old Jose Luque is accused of kidnapping and assaulting the victim in the case.

A Santa Maria Police Department photo of Luque released Sunday shows him with unique, identifiable tattoos on his face, neck and chest.

Police say Luque is wanted for violating his parole, kidnapping and child endangerment.

"It's an ongoing investigation, the Detective Bureau literally as we speak is looking into it and they probably will be for awhile", said SMPD Lt. Paul Van Meel Sunday afternoon, "ultimately we're going to reach out to everybody that we can, the public in particular."

Police are protecting the identity of the victim and are not saying exactly where in the city the alleged kidnapping and assault took place but they believe Luque is still somewhere in the city limits.

Anyone who sees Jose Luque should contact Santa Maria Police as soon as possible.

"Obviously we don't want anyone to approach him", Lt. Van Meel said, "we want a phone call, they can call 911, they can call our desk line dispatch (805-928-3781) and just say they saw him, either in a vehicle, at a house, people they might have seen him with, anything like that would give us a lot to go on."

Its not known why Jose Luque was sent to prison, when he was paroled or if he's carrying any weapons.
