Santa Maria youth soccer coach charged with illegal activity with a minor

Francisco Hernandez Sanabria arrested Tuesday

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria police say they've arrested 34 year old Santa Maria resident Francisco Hernandez Sanabria for "annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18 years and contacting a minor to solicit lewd photographs."

SMPD says Sanabria is a soccer coach at Santa Maria High School and coaches a local club soccer team.

The Santa Maria Joint Union High School District issued the following statement regarding the arrest and charges against Sanabria:

"The District was informed this afternoon of an arrest warrant for a man who is also a walk-on assistant soccer coach at Santa Maria High School. We have cooperated with the Santa Maria Police Department. We investigate all alleged activity and will take appropriate action if necessary or appropriate. At this time, the Santa Maria Police Department has not given us any indication that this alleged activity involved any Santa Maria High School students."

Santa Maria Police say no further information will be released on this case as it pertains to the victim or the circumstances because they want to protect the identity of the underage victim.

Investigators are asking anyone with additional information to contact the SMPD Detective's Bureau at 805-928-3781 ext. 2288.
