Santa Maria family coping with loss after home is burglarized

Home turned upside down during burglary

Santa Maria home burglarized

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A Santa Maria family is coping after their home was broken into and burglarized in broad daylight.

Surveillance video captures brazen thieves pulling up in a blue truck to a Santa Maria home on E. El Camino Street.

The burglars loaded up their truck with thousands of dollars of electronics.

"These are the two windows the screens were ripped open, I knew what had happened when I pulled up," says Andrew Libbon about his house.

He and his wife had been gone for four hours and when they returned home they never thought they would find this. Their house was turned upside down.

Bedrooms were torn through and drawers opened as thieves searched for anything they could take.

"I was shocked, it looked like a tornado had hit the house," he says.

He describes seeing a suspicious 2015 or 2016 white Malibu parked outside when he came back home.

"These people were watching us, I feel they were sitting out here watching us," he says.

He says the man inside of that car is Hispanic with short hair. He believes he was the "look out" for the driver of the late 90's or early 2000's blue Ford F150 truck with black rims who was loading up with his belongings.

"This is actually, the tire trucks, where the truck took off, they backed up right here to the house and started loading things right in," he says as he stands in front of his house.

The laptops, guitars, and T.V's are all gone.

Libbon is grateful a neighbor's camera caught the act on video.

"I was the only one that walked into the house my wife was scared to walk in," he says.

His children and wife are also shaken up. He's hoping the security video will lead police to the people responsible.

"For them to do something like that to us its terrible it's going to be hard to get back on our feet," he says.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Santa Maria Police Department.
