Santa Barbara Police arrest man suspected of assaulting a parking officer

Officer was attempting to tow Dodge pick-up

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara Police arrested Matthew Robert Brown, 49,  on Wednesday morning, on suspicion of assaulting a parking enforcement officer.

Police said the officer was trying to tow Brown's Dodge pick-up ,with a motorcycle in the bed of the truck ,when he shoved her and drove away.

She said the truck's registration had expired more than a year ago.

Police said it is illegal to park a car with an expired registration on city streets.

She requested help by phone and is recovering from minor injuries.

Police said a motorcycle officer quickly spotted Brown driving a pick-up with a Suzuki motorcycle in the bed of the truck and arrested him in the area of Figueroa and Chino Streets.

Brown is now facing multiple charges including felony battery against an officer and misdemeanor resisting and delaying an officer's investigation.

Bail was set at $25,000.
