SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A San Luis Obispo woman was arrested Saturday evening after authorities say she cut her boyfriends throat and fled the area on foot.
The incident happened at around 6:45 p.m. at Bishop Peak near San Luis Obispo.
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's deputies responded to the trailhead at Bishop Peak for a report of a man bleeding from the neck.
Deputies responded and found a 55-year-old man with a large laceration across his neck. The man told witnesses at the scene that his girlfriend had cut his throat.
An EMT was on their way to work when they stopped and rendered aid to the man.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and then later released.
Deputies searched the area for the man's girlfriend in the area of Cerro Romaldo Avenue after receiving multiple reports of a suspicious female in the area.
San Luis Obispo police officers located the woman hiding in some bushes.
She was arrested and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
She has been identified as Erika Christine Deherrera, 40, of San Luis Obispo. Deherrera could face charges for attempted murder.
