Port Hueneme police make arrest in Fourth of July homicide

17-year-old teen facing murder charges

PORT HUENEME, Calif. - Port Hueneme police have made an arrest in the murder of 16-year-old Gerardo Sandoval who was shot multiple times on the Fourth of July.

Authorities arrested 17-year-old Port Hueneme resident Luis Antonio Gonzalez on July 14, 2017 at 10:30 p.m. in connection with the homicide.

The murder occurred in the 2700 block of Bolker Drive in Port Hueneme.

Police said Sandoval and Gonzalez were involved in an argument that ended with Gonzalez shooting Sandoval several times.

Sandoval was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center where he died several days later from his injuries.

Gonzalez was arrested near his home without incident and booked into Ventura County Juvenile Justice Detention Center. He will appear in Juvenile Court to face murder charges for Sandoval's death.
