PORT HUENEME, Calif. - A 16-year-old is fighting for his life after being shot multiple times in Port Hueneme on the Fourth of July.
Port Hueneme police received a call of a shooting near Bolker Drive and Hemlock Street at about 9:15 p.m.
Police located the teen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in grave condition, according to Port Hueneme Police Chief Andrew Salinas.
Police have identified the victim as 16-year-old Junior Sandoval from Oxnard.
“It’s my understanding that the victim was in the company with his brother and that a possible altercation took place with a group of other subjects prior to the shooting,” said Salinas.
Sandoval was hit by the suspects vehicle and shot multiple times in the back. There is no description of the suspects involved in this crime at this time.
Detectives with the Port Hueneme Police Department canvassed the area for several hours looking for evidence.
