Oxnard police arrest teen in homicide investigation

OXNARD, Calif. - Oxnard police have arrested a 16-year-old Oxnard teen and charging him with the murder of Steven Magallon, a 31-year-old resident of Oxnard.

Police say Jesus Troncoso was 15 years old at the time of the murder. Magallon was shot multiple times during a confrontation in the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar Drive on March 26, 2016.

Magallon was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center but died several days later.

Troncoso allegedly shot and killed Magallon during a gang related argument, said the Oxnard Police Department.

Detectives followed up on leads and served several search warrants throughout the investigation until they had enough evidence to arrest Troncoso on Tuesday.

Troncoso was already in custody at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center when he was arrested by detectives. Police say he was in custody on unrelated charges.
