Girl injured after vehicle crashes into Oxnard home

Girl injured by SUV that crashed into home overnight in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. - A juvenile female suffered minor injuries after a suspected DUI driver crashed their car into a home in Oxnard early Sunday morning.

At around 3:00 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department and the Oxnard Fire Department responded to a home on the 1200 block of Juneberry Place after a gray Mitsubishi SUV crashed through a wall of the home.

Investigators believe the driver of the SUV was traveling northbound on Lantana Street when the vehicle left the roadway and drove into the home.

The vehicle struck a bedroom that was occupied by three female juveniles. One of the girls sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene on foot.

A citizen followed the driver and helped police locate him.

The investigation is ongoing but police suspect that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.

Oxnard Fire Department crews worked to help stabilize the structure. It's unclear whether or not the family was forced to evacuate the building.
