AVILA BEACH, Calif. - Three admitted gang members from Fresno were arrested in connection to an altercation that sent one woman to the hospital with a fractured skull.
The incident took place at the Avila Pier in Avila Beach Friday at around 8 p.m.
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area for a report of a woman that had suffered a major head injury.
Deputies were notified that California Highway Patrol had stopped a vehicle that was occupied by the four suspects.
Authorities searched the suspect's vehicle and located a loaded handgun.
Deputies questioned the suspects about the Avila Beach incident and the female victim.
Detectives learned that the incident began when two of the suspects, Gregory Rodriguez, 20, and Nicholas Rodriguez, 18, and two others approached the victim and her friends outside the restrooms on the pier.
An argument began and a fight broke out between the two groups. Witnesses said Gregory Rodriguez grabbed a beer bottle and threw it at the head of the victim. The woman was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull.
Gregory Rodriguez and Nicholas Rodriguez were both arrested and face charges for assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.
A third man, Andrew Michael Alonso, 27, was arrested for having a $200,000 warrant out of Fresno for domestic violence.
All three men are admitted gang members from the Fresno area which garnered them an additional charge for gang enhancement.
