Driver in fatal DUI crash in SLO County pleads no contest to murder charges

Crash killed driver's two young stepchildren

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The driver in a DUI crash that killed two children near Cuyama in 2016 pleaded no contest to two charges of murder and one count of felony driving under the influence.

Jerald Brandon Holman, 37, of Bakersfield appeared in San Luis Obispo District Court on Monday to enter his plea.

On September 5, 2016, Holman was driving on State Route 166 in San Luis Obispo County when he collided with another vehicle. 

Four people in the other vehicle were injured. Holman's two step-children, ages 4 and 7, were killed in the crash.

Holman’s blood alcohol content (BAC) registered at .11, four hours after the crash.

Sentencing has been set for September 18. Holman is expected to be sentenced to serve 30 years-to-Life in state prison.
