Deputies arrest man suspected of trafficking, supplying methamphetamine throughout Ventura County

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - The Ventura County Sheriff's Office arrested a man suspected of trafficking and supplying methamphetamine to residents of Ventura County.

The arrest occurred on Thursday at around 1 p.m. at the place of employment of Edwin Villalta, 41, of Newhall.

Detectives from the West County Street Narcotics Team had been investigating Villalta for a month as part of the case.

Members of the Sheriff’s Gang Unit and the California National Guard’s Counter Drug Task Force detained Villalta as he was leaving his work on the 24800 Block of Walnut Street in Newhall.

A search warrant was executed on his person, vehicles and residence in Newhall.

Investigators found approximately 13 ounces of methamphetamine and 2 ounces of heroin, both packaged for sale in various quantities, along with a large sum of cash believed to be the proceeds of narcotic sales.

Villalta was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail on narcotic violations along with
a Los Angeles County warrant which he had under a different name.

His bail was set at $76,000.

He is currently in custody with an arraignment scheduled for Monday.
