Cal Poly student nearly falls prey to sexual assault by stranger at her apartment

Suspect fled before police arrived to the scene

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A 22-year-old Cal Poly student told police she was nearly sexually assaulted by a stranger in her apartment as she came out of the shower Monday night.

Officers with the San Luis Obispo Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Foothill Road at 11:30 p.m. and immediately launched an investigation to try and locate the suspect. However, the suspect fled the scene before police arrived. No arrests have been made.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned Black or Hispanic man in his mid to late 20's. The victim told police the suspect appeared to be about 5-feet 9-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall with an average build and possibly a shaved head.

Police say the suspect was last seen wearing a white plaid shirt, black leather style jacket, black ski gloves, and blue jeans with tan stitching and wearing white Converse shoes.

The victim was not physically injured in the attack, according to police.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the SLO Police Department or Crime Stoppers.

Police remind residents to lock and secure the windows and doors to their homes and report any suspicious activity in your neighborhoods.
