Bakersfield man accused of battering police officer in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - A man was arrested Friday evening after Ventura police say he resisted arrest and kicked an officer in head.

At around 7:30 p.m. a witness reported seeing Andrew Hodges, 41, of Bakersfield, looking into vehicles and opening the door to a car that did not belong to him.

When officers responded they learned the man had an active arrest warrant out of Bakersfield and tried to place him under arrest.

Police say that's when Hodges violently resisted and kicked an officer in the head.

Officers were eventually able to subdue Hodges.

Hodges was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries he sustained during the arrest.

Hodges was booked into the Ventura County Jail in connection to the warrant out of Bakersfield

He could face additional charges for felony resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and vehicle tampering.

The officer who was kicked sustained a minor injury.
