Authorities searching for man who may have kidnapped ex-girlfriend in Solvang

Woman possibly kidnapped in Solvang...

SOLVANG, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who is believed to have kidnapped his ex-girlfriend Friday evening in Solvang.

Deputies are looking for Joseph Hetzel, 52, of Lompoc. Hetzel is suspected of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend Virginia Paris, 55, also of Lompoc sometime on Friday.

Deputies first received the missing person report at around 7:30 p.m.

It is believed that Hetzel kidnapped Paris and then left Solvang, headed toward Ventura County via Highway 101. Hetzel may be in the Camarillo area.

The two are believed to be riding in Paris's vehicle, a black 2015 Chrysler 200 with the California license plate of 7NGE514.

Paris is described as a white woman, approximately 5-foot-6 and 150 pounds.She has brown hair and brown eyes.  She was last seen wearing a light colored shirt.

Associates of Paris said she recently sought a restraining order against Hetzel which was granted, but has yet to be served.

Hetzel is a white male standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 195 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue colored shirt. 

Hetzel has previously served time in prison for possession of items used to make explosive devices, using explosive devices with the intent to terrorize, felony vandalism and criminal threats.

Hetzel is believed to have access to firearms and should be considered armed and dangerous. 

If anyone sees Hetzel or Paris, they are told not approach them but instead contact 911immediately.
