SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -

One local race is still up for grabs in the primary election as the final ballots are being counted.

In Santa Barbara County, 1,700 ballots still need to be tallied.

Measure M has no chance of winning since it trails by 2,700 votes. But the 24th Congressional district race is still a toss-up.

"There's currently 498 votes separating the second and third place. So that is yet to be determined," said Joe Holland, the Santa Barbara County clerk, recorder assessor.

Chris Mitchum holds a slight lead right now over Justin Fareed. Whoever wins will go on to face incumbent Lois Capps in November.

That congressional seat covers San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and a small piece of Ventura County.
