Chapman estate is almost ready for public use.

The historic mansion and its property was donated to Pismo Beach by its late owner, Clifford Chapman.

The city is now bringing it up to code for public property.

They just finished phase one of installing handicapped accessible ramps from the curb.

Other tasks including painting, handrails and replacing small parts of the home worn over the years.

There are some other ideas floating around to make the property a public venue, including a hard top for the pool to hold events over.

The city will hold its first event there on June 1st but, after that, events will be limited because the partner of the late Mr. Chapman still resides in the mansion.
