CAMARILLO,Calif. - Flight instructors at Channel Islands Aviation said Civilian pilot training is becoming more common than military training.
As baby boomer-aged pilots retire, the need for young pilots is soaring.
Student pilots, as young as 12 years of age, can begin their training at CIA's Youth Aviation Academy in Camarillo.
Instuctor Mike Lozano said major airlines are hiring and will continue to do so as pilots retire at age 65.
Young pilots learn the parts of the plane, the importance of preflight instructions and how to fly during a three-day courses offered in Camarillo.
They can also continue with private lessons.
