SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - About 100 people turned out for a community-wide memorial for three slain Israeli teens, including Naftali Fraenkel who is also a U.S. citizen
The Jewish Community Center in Santa Barbara hosted the memorial service called Remember Our Boys.
Rabbi Arthur Gross-Schaefer talked from the heart about losing one of his own sons, who was struck and killed by a car while attending Brown University.
Gross-Schaefer also spoke at the memorial for the Isla Vista murder victims last month.
He said now is not the time to think "what if" or "if only," now is the time to grieve, not to hate.
Other rabbis said tragedy can be transformed. They said good can come out of the loss.
Ruth Steinberg took time out from working at Camp Ramah in Ojai to attend the memorial.
Steinberg said many of the campers and counselors are from Israeli. They are mourning too.
