SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -

A fundraiser to help the family of a Cal Poly student who was killed last week in a car accident happened today.

According to CHP, 24-year-old Will Rogers was driving in Santa Maria early last Sunday morning when he ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Dominion Road. His car hit an embankment and flipped into a nearby field. No alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor.

Members of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity cooked up tri-tip to raise money for the family of one of their own.

"Will was one of the better people I knew," says Andrew Wickham, a close friend of Rogers. "He would always help somebody out. We're just helping his family out because we loved him so much and care so much about him that we want to help them."

Members of the fraternity say they hope to raise a few thousand dollars to help Rogers' family with funeral expenses.
