SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

The post office is preparing for a 12% increase in packages nationwide.

That means they will deliver 45 million more packages than the last holiday season.

They say the spike is partly due to more online shopping.

Early reports say this year's Cyber Monday sales broke record.

In Santa Maria, the post office is hiring additional help.

They installed two more self-service kiosks last month.

With the busier season, they remind customers to bring in mail by December 29th for First Class, and by December 20th for Priority Mail Express.
