ISLA VISTA, Calif. -

A small brush fire broke out early Monday morning in Isla Vista.

It happened just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Camino Corto and Abrego Road in Isla Vista.

Flames were seen in an open field behind Isla Vista Elementary School.

Some nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.

Santa Barbara County Fire responded to the scene and quickly put out the blaze.

There are no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
